Tell us briefly about your background.
I am originally from Mexico, where I earned my BA in Public Policy. My passion for understanding and addressing societal challenges led me to the University of Chicago, where I completed my master’s in public policy. My professional journey spans diverse fields, including the insurance industry in Mexico, international development with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and health policy research at UChicago. These experiences have honed my skills in data analytics and project management, particularly within public policy and health initiatives.
In my recent roles, I developed a nationwide mobile vaccination app for the Ministry of Health in Belize (IDB), which is currently in operation, and contributed to a dental health randomized controlled trial (RCT) with the Center for Health and Social Sciences at UChicago. Additionally, I have participated in hackathons, where I enjoy solving policy issues with technology. I am deeply passionate about leveraging data-driven projects and behavioral science approaches to reduce inequality and improve public health.
What inspired you to join the team here?
Over the years of working in public policy, I have learned that solving social challenges requires insights from multiple disciplines. This is why I was inspired to join the team at CSBS. I appreciate that CSBS is interdisciplinary and actively fosters collaboration across campus, bringing together diverse perspectives to address complex issues.
What are you excited for in your new role with CSBS?
In my new role with CSBS, I am excited to be involved in the PLRF program, which connects graduate students with state legislators to conduct research that can inform public policy in Illinois. Additionally, I look forward to fostering policy-oriented research with faculty on campus. I am also enthusiastic about exploring technologies that can facilitate behavioral science research. The combination of policy, research, and technology is what truly excites me about this role.
What do you hope to learn? What do you hope others learn from you?
I am eager to learn more about how behavioral science can be applied to improve people’s lives and to build meaningful collaborations with faculty. I hope to bring a policy-focused and data-driven perspective to our research, integrating these elements to drive impactful solutions.
Outside of work or home, where might we find you?
Outside of work or home, you might find me enjoying a run, doing functional training or kayaking with my husband, Stefan. I also love traveling and spending time with friends.
