The social and behavioral sciences are uniquely positioned to identify sources of inequality in contemporary society and design interventions that produce more just communities. The roots of inequality occur at a variety of levels—for example, institutional structures, social and economic groups and classes, and families and individuals—and these often interact, creating complex webs.
The Illinois Diversity & Equity Science (IDES) working group is committed to combining different disciplinary perspectives and applying a diverse set of empirical tools to understand and ameliorate inequality across a variety of dimensions.
