UNIQ Seed Fund: Inaugural Call for Proposals for AY2025-26   
The UNIQ Seed Fund is accepting proposals for the 2025-2026 academic year. This initiative is designed to support promising collaborative projects that aim at strengthening research and educational ties through the university’s trilateral partnership with National Taiwan University and Kyushu University. Proposals from all disciplines are welcome.  
Deadline: April 30, 2025  

External Funding Opportunities:  

One Mind Rising Star Awards – Neuroscience, Psychiatry, Psychology and Related Fields  
Invites applications from early career investigators in neuroscience, psychiatry, psychology, and related disciplines to apply for a three-year grant of up to $300,000. Supports breakthrough research to deepen our understanding of the brain and mental health conditions, enhance detection and diagnosis, and drive the treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders.  
Deadline: May 15, 2025  

The Huo Family Foundation Junior Faculty Research Grants  
Supports lecturers and assistant professors at the start of their careers to foster independence and gain experience leading research projects and teams. Proposals should tackle key questions within the broad topic of the effects of usage of and exposure to digital technologies on brain development and function (including physiological responses), social behavior and interactions, and mental health of children and young people.

Wellcome: Generative AI for anxiety, depression and psychosis  

Supports fundamental research on using generative AI to improve the measurement or treatment of anxiety, depression and psychosis. Successful teams will research how to optimize generative models for mental health or how generative AI, mental health professionals and people affected by mental health issues can work together safely and efficiently. The application process for this program is two phases: a four-month accelerator stage followed by a separate funding call. Only participants selected for the accelerator stage will be eligible to apply for the funding call.

NIH Risk and Protective Factors of Family Health and Family Level Interventions (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)  
Supports family level health observational and intervention studies in the biomedical, clinical, population, behavioral or social sciences. Projects are expected to include family health measures (i.e., health outcome(s) or behavior(s) measures for 2 or more family members). Projects must include a focus on families from one or more NIH-designated populations that experience health disparities in the United States.

The Lalor Foundation: Grants for Programs on Women’s Reproductive Health  
Supports initiatives that bring women information and access to reproductive health care, contraception, and pregnancy termination to help broaden and enhance their options in life.

Nathan Cummings Foundation: Funding for Racial, Economic and Environmental Justice Projects  
Supports finding solutions to the two most challenging problems of our time – the climate crisis and growing inequality – and aim to transform the systems and mindsets that hinder progress toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all people, particularly women and people of color.

Wellcome Mental Health Award: Leveraging Longitudinal Data  
Supports research to develop data-driven or hypothesis-driven early identification models and advance their translational potential, aiming to create a step-change in early intervention for anxiety, depression and/or psychosis.

American Psychological Association: Marian R. Stuart Grant  
Supports the research, practice, or education of an early career psychologist on the connection between mental and physical health, particularly for work that contributes to public health. Examples include but are not limited to research-based programs that teach medical doctors counseling skills; research-based programs on the effect of behavior on health; and research-based programs on psychologists’ role in medical settings for the benefit of patients.

Harry Frank Guggenheim Distinguished Scholar Awards  
Supports research that investigates the basic mechanisms in the production of violence, but primacy is given to proposals that make a compelling case for the relevance of potential findings for policies intended to reduce these ills. Highest priority is given to research that addresses urgent, present-day problems of violence—what produces it, how it operates, and what prevents or reduces it.

American Psychological Association: Psychology of Antisemitism Grant  
Supports applicants who design, develop, or implement programs or research projects that aim to reduce antisemitism or mitigate its effects.  
Deadline: September 4, 2025  

March of Dimes: Discovery Research Grants  
Supports seasoned researchers seeking to make consequential translational discoveries that will drastically alter clinical care for pregnant people and babies, whether through evidence-based prevention, diagnosis, or intervention. Discovery Grants are funding vehicles for research inquiries that are as practical as they are ambitious, as attainable as they are groundbreaking, and as transformative as they are necessary.

American Psychological Association: Bruce and Jane Walsh Grant in Memory of John Holland  
Supports scientific, scholarly, or applied research and/or educational activities investigating how personality, culture, and environment influence work behavior and health (mental and physical).  
Deadline: September 18, 2025  

The Charles Koch Foundation  
Supports research that spurs social progress, contributing to a society of mutual benefit. Although the foundation invites proposals for a select number of issues (future of work; liberalism), they encourage proposals for any research that shares the goals and vision of the Foundation.  
Deadline: Proposals accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis.  

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: Exploring Equitable Futures

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health Policy Research Scholars program is designed to equip diverse doctoral students from a wide range of research-focused disciplines with the skills, knowledge, and network to advance health equity.
