CSBS and IGPA launch Partnerships for Evidence-based Public Policy Fellowship Program

The Center for Social & Behavioral Science (CSBS) and the Institute of Government and Public Affairs (IGPA) welcome applications to the Partnerships for Evidence-based Public Policy (PEPP) Fellowship. This new program bridges research and policymaking by supporting mid-career faculty across the University of Illinois System in conducting year-long policy research projects in collaboration with Illinois government partners.

PEPP fellows will join a cohort engaged in monthly training sessions covering the policy research lifecycle, policy communication, and collaboration strategies. The program will welcome four fellows in its pilot year (AY25-26), with two fellowships supported in part by the Kellner Center for Neurogenomics, Behavior and Society for research related to mental health policy.

Fellows receive financial support through course buyouts, research assistance, summer salary, and research-related expenses. In return, they are expected to implement a policy research project with their government partner and produce a policy spotlight, white paper, or academic publication.

Applications open March 1 – April 15, 2025. Eligible applicants must be tenure-track, mid-career faculty (assistant professors with 3+ years or associate professors) with an existing regional, state, or tribal government partnership in Illinois.
