Broader Impacts Workshop

January 22, 2022
9 a.m.
2:30 p.m.

Hosted by the Center for Social & Behavioral Science.

Every year, NSF’s Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE) Directorate receives many more proposals than it can fund. Guided by the two criteria of intellectual merit and broader impacts, NSF supports proposals of the highest quality (intellectual merit), as well as those that provide the greatest value to the nation (broader impacts). Although researchers are proficient in addressing and formulating their proposals’ intellectual merit, questions often emerge around how to best articulate the broader impacts for their research. In addition, compelling broader impacts activities are becoming increasingly decisive factors at NSF’s review panels.

View the recordings and workshop resources to explore how to make your broader impacts an integral part of your funding proposals and research agenda and gain insights from Illinois faculty based on their experiences designing and implementing broader impacts activities.
